This Monday’s history lesson in the 11th grade saw a very special guest:
Australian-born author and journalist Neil McPherson visited the bilingual class and gave a workshop on his case-study about two Australian youngsters who had volunteered for the European ANZAC operation during World War I and then died in France within one hour of one another, killed by a German sniper.
McPherson not only gave a very vivid presentation of the events but also linked the two brothers’ fate to the wider scope of big history.
Stressing the importance of the human factor in history, he also gave an insight in the works of a journalist and historian.
A lesson we will not forget
